Pulled in too many directions

OK…angry and downright bitter.

Declutter TODAY by Cindy Rushton
January 8, 2010
There is something this time of the year that actually compels me to reorganize, declutter, and clean. No other season does it quite the same!
This is actually the time of year that we clean up from the holiday whirlwind and gear up for another super year. Are you doing the same thing? Well, let’s work together by first decluttering and then getting our house in order bit-by-bit. Then, we will be ready to dig into our New Year full-force!
So, want to declutter? Let me help!
First, KNOW THAT YOU CAN’T CLEAN OR ORGANIZE CLUTTER. This is so essential. Ever get frustrated by cleaning and organizing to only look up and find that everything still looks messy? That frustrates me. If I will sit back and look, the problem is that clutter is always messy. It can’t be cleaned up or organized. It has to be attacked. It has to go. Read more
Want to Reach Your Goals? Write them DOWN!
July 25, 2009
Want to reach your goals? There is a big secret!
What is a goal? It is more than a wish for something better. In fact, it is a declaration of what needs to change in one’s life. As a declaration, goals are written down.
Why is it so important to write down goals? The first and most common sense reason is that we will forget them. Plenty of us have minds like steel sieves. Writing down our goals is like putting rocks in with all that sand. Rocks are too big to go through the sieve so they stay. Read more

Got Goals? WRITE THEM DOWN!
January 25, 2009

What is a goal? It is more than a wish for something better. In fact, it is a declaration of what needs to change in one’s life. As a declaration, goals are written down.
Why is it so important to write down goals? The first and most common sense reason is that we will forget them. Plenty of us have minds like steel sieves. Writing down our goals is like putting rocks in with all that sand. Rocks are too big to go through the sieve so they stay.
Writing down goals is not like New Year’s resolutions. New Year’s resolutions are vague for the most part. They are general ideas of things we would like to accomplish that are initiated to get into the spirit of the season. We want our goals to be more concrete and lasting than that.

Goals Need Deadlines
January 24, 2009

We set goals all the time. Sometimes those goals result in less than satisfactory outcomes. Have you ever wondered why that is? One explanation is because the goals have been left open-ended. Not giving our objective a target to completion leads to unfulfilled aspirations and ambitions.
Here are five reasons that goals need deadlines.
1. Deadlines avoid procrastination. What is the first thing you think about when there is something to do? Do you try to find a way to put it off? Many people do exactly that all the time. The car is making a funny noise but it still runs so you put off getting it looked at by a mechanic. Then, one day it doesn’t run and the need is immediate. Without a deadline, the achievement of a goal can drag on forever.
2. Deadlines hold you accountable. Read more
Five Tips to Help You Stay Focused on Your Goals
January 23, 2009

Setting goals can be effortless. It’s not hard to think up or even write your goals down. Achieving them, on the other hand, can be a bit of a challenge. In order to reach your goals, you must maintain your focus on the end result, especially when things get rough. Here are some tips to aid you in staying focused on your goals.
1. Create a visual reminder. A wish book contains pictures, personal reflections and other notes related to the finished goal. Let’s pretend for a moment that your goal is to start a restaurant. Create a restaurant wish book full of pictures such as cutouts from magazines depicting restaurant grand openings, the type of furniture you would like in the restaurant, famous people coming to visit, or even a fake review that you have written about your impending opening night. Visual reminders are meant to encourage and keep your eye on the prize when you hit a rough spot in your plans.
2. Ask for help. This point can’t be stated enough. Read more
Goals Need a Plan
January 21, 2009

It has been said more than once that when we fail to plan, we plan to fail. It’s true enough. The first step in achieving your goal is to make certain you have a plan before you begin.
When it comes to things we really want to do, think about the usual process from beginning to completion. We think about what it is we want to do, decide we are going to and then verbalize it in our mind or voiced to a friend or family member. The thought won’t let us go and we finally write it down somewhere.
Now that it is concrete, we have to do something with it. When it comes to weight goals, things can go awry quite quickly when a plan is not in place. We eat salad because it seems like the right thing to do. If you are not a salad eater, ingesting all that roughage gets old really quick. Beyond that we aren’t sure what else we can eat to lose weight and eventually settle back into old habits.
