It’s a Legacy!! by Cindy Rushton
September 2, 2010
Yesterday, we welcomed our precious Joshua Edwin Rushton into the world!
As I looked at him for the first time I finally GOT that verse in Proverbs 17:6:
“Children’s children are a crown to the aged.” (Proverbs 17:6)
We can have everything in the world–all of the stuff, all of the accomplishments, all of the possessions–everything. Yet, when the music fades and all is stripped away, only a few things really matter.
I have lived a life that has been sooo blessed. God has blessed me with so many amazing blessings. I cannot think that the cost for those blessings has been a big sacrifice for me when God has even made that EASY!
All He has required is that I obey Him and offer my life as a daily sacrifice, doing what HE asks. How hard is that? Especially, when I look at the abundant and lavish blessings that just chase me down.
Yes. I have been blessed in so many areas of my life:
1. Yes, I have had a wonderful marriage. This year we celebrate 25 years of marriage. Talk about an awesome blessing! Read more
Spring Clean Your Commitments by Cindy Rushton
April 6, 2010
Hello Sweet Friend!
What does your calendar look like? Is it just too busy? Want to change things, but have no idea what COULD go? Is it time to prune?
There is something about spring that requires that we cut out the extras and gear up the things that really matter. If we don’t, there are ramifications. We get…
Tired
Weary
Stressed out
Pushed to our limits
Pulled in too many directions
Edgy
Snippy
Irritable
OK…angry and downright bitter.
Relate?
It is time to spring clean our commitments. It is time to look at all that we have on our calendar and really evaluate Read more
Time to Spring Clean!!!
March 21, 2010
Have you looked at the calendar? Do you know what Saturday was? Yep! The first day of spring! I am soooo ready for spring this year. It has been so damp, gloomy, cold this year. I am ready for some sunshine, fresh air, and nicer temperatures. Believe it or not, I am even ready to spring clean this year. So ready that I have already been spring cleaning EVERYTHING!
Want to join me? Super!
Over the next few weeks, we are going to look at several different areas of our lives that need to be “cleaned out” so we can have the best year ever. I really want for you to dig in and do the hard work WITH ME so we can spring clean our lives together.
What we will do is look at the need. Then, I will give you some action steps to help you get going. Read more
Strengthening Our Connection to God By Susanne Scott

Strengthening Our Connection to God
By Susanne Scott
Is your walk with God stumbling? Do you seek Him, spend time alone with Him and yet still feel you are not quite hearing from Him? Your connection might be weak.
Two people joined in marriage before God are part of a triangle that exists between them and God. When the connection between any two of the three sides grows weak and wavery, the whole triangle becomes warped, out of shape. In the busyness of every day life it is so easy to go from being a helpmeet and partner with our spouse to just two adults living together. Yet God intended for so much more. When we go days or even weeks without spending meaningful time with our spouse, we weaken our spiritual connection to God. You may be spending a lot of time with God, praying, fasting, even going away for weekend retreats or conferences to find Him and His will for your life. All those are very good things but if you are in a covenant, spirit-filled relationship with your husband, when he is left out of the process, you will never feel totally confident that you have the heart of God. Ephesians 5:28 says a wife is to respect her husband just as he is to love her as he loves his own body. It also calls us to be in unity with him as a helpmeet. If we are living two separate lives, not working as a team, not respecting and loving one another in all the meanings of those words, our triangle with God is weak and out of shape. Read more
Learn from the Deer Hunter by Cindy Rushton
November 2, 2009
I just had a very interesting “chat” with my sweetheart. There are times that I just sit back in awe of his wisdom. It changes my life.
Today, we were talking about how different men and women are. We, women, could learn a lot about balance by studying men, especially the deer hunters!
Wonder where I am going with this one? Stick with me!
Here in the South something happens every year to multitudes of men. They disappear! Don’t worry. They DO come back. But, you can set your calendar by them.
Those who are married to them know what I mean without me writing it. All I have to say is “deer hunter” and they know what to expect with these guys, especially as the seasons turn.
So, why do I say, “Learn from the deer hunter?” Read more

Perks to Getting Fit and Healthy by Cindy Rushton
September 11, 2009
Some of you have been following my journey this year toward getting fit and healthy. I am proud to report that as of today, I am down 66lbs, 4 sizes, AND even 20 points on top and bottom for my blood pressure! Hoot!
If you are just coming into this journey with me, it all began with the same old, same old New Year’s resolution that I have had E-V-E-R-Y year for as far back as I can remember:
To get fit and healthy
I went year-after-year-after-year either holding on to the weight as the New Year began again OR slipping up a few more pounds and a few more sizes.
This year, I decided that I would continue to reach for my big goals in all of the other areas of life (those that I seemed to reach just by putting them down on paper). However, THIS YEAR would be the year that I would REACH for this resolution as well. I did not want to end this year feeling defeated, overwhelmed, and wanting to skip past the line this one was written on. So, this year, this resolution was moved to the top of the list, the top of my schedule, and is now on TOP of my successes for the year already. Yes! AND, it is ONLY September! I AM JAZZED! Read more

The stress!
The chaos!
The mess!

The lack of organization or ability to “keep it together.”

Want to Reach Your Goals? Write them DOWN!
July 25, 2009
Want to reach your goals? There is a big secret!
What is a goal? It is more than a wish for something better. In fact, it is a declaration of what needs to change in one’s life. As a declaration, goals are written down.
Why is it so important to write down goals? The first and most common sense reason is that we will forget them. Plenty of us have minds like steel sieves. Writing down our goals is like putting rocks in with all that sand. Rocks are too big to go through the sieve so they stay. Read more
Don’t Set Yourself Up to Fail
April 24, 2009

You will not find out how to fail here. Instead you will learn why you sometimes do fail. Unconsciously we sabotage our own efforts but you can consciously make choices to keep failure at bay in your personal goals.
Failure is not fatal but it can be avoided when you take the necessary steps to ensure your success. Here are a few pitfalls to navigate around.
1. Have a plan - Winging it doesn’t always work. In fact, if you are serious about your goals winging it is never a good idea. Map out a strategy for getting your goals met. Now, just because you write it down doesn’t mean it is set in stone. Plans change but without one, you never really know where you are going or will end up.
2. Set deadlines that you can meet - The point of setting a goal is to achieve it. The goal itself might not be easy but it can be realized if you break it down into steps. Unrealistic timelines Read more
