Reasons or Excuses????
November 23, 2009
Just 11 short months ago I was a completely different person. All it took for me to find the change that I really needed was for me to face the truth–I was where I was mostly because of my simple excuses.
Oh! I did not call it that. Nope! I called it my “reasons” for being where I was and not where I really wanted to be. You see, I was over 100 pounds overweight. Boy, did I have my “reasons” for being there…
1. No time.
2. Too much going on.
3. Didn’t feel good.
4. Too much to do each day.
5. Didn’t want to put so much effort into losing weight only to gain it back.
6. Didn’t know where to begin.
7. It hurt.
8. Bombed already so this won’t matter…
9. I am recovering from an injury so I can’t do anything.
10. HAROLD…or MY MOM…or MY KIDS…or MY SCHEDULE…
Learn from the Deer Hunter by Cindy Rushton
November 2, 2009
I just had a very interesting “chat” with my sweetheart. There are times that I just sit back in awe of his wisdom. It changes my life.
Today, we were talking about how different men and women are. We, women, could learn a lot about balance by studying men, especially the deer hunters!
Wonder where I am going with this one? Stick with me!
Here in the South something happens every year to multitudes of men. They disappear! Don’t worry. They DO come back. But, you can set your calendar by them.
Those who are married to them know what I mean without me writing it. All I have to say is “deer hunter” and they know what to expect with these guys, especially as the seasons turn.
So, why do I say, “Learn from the deer hunter?” Read more
Perks to Getting Fit and Healthy by Cindy Rushton
September 11, 2009
Some of you have been following my journey this year toward getting fit and healthy. I am proud to report that as of today, I am down 66lbs, 4 sizes, AND even 20 points on top and bottom for my blood pressure! Hoot!
If you are just coming into this journey with me, it all began with the same old, same old New Year’s resolution that I have had E-V-E-R-Y year for as far back as I can remember:
To get fit and healthy
I went year-after-year-after-year either holding on to the weight as the New Year began again OR slipping up a few more pounds and a few more sizes.
This year, I decided that I would continue to reach for my big goals in all of the other areas of life (those that I seemed to reach just by putting them down on paper). However, THIS YEAR would be the year that I would REACH for this resolution as well. I did not want to end this year feeling defeated, overwhelmed, and wanting to skip past the line this one was written on. So, this year, this resolution was moved to the top of the list, the top of my schedule, and is now on TOP of my successes for the year already. Yes! AND, it is ONLY September! I AM JAZZED! Read more

The stress!
The chaos!
The mess!
The clutter!
The lack of organization or ability to “keep it together.”

Reduce Your Stress in Fifteen Minutes or Less
February 20, 2009

Stress is no stranger to the average mom. Day in and day out it tries to enter our lives through busy schedules, a messy home, and screaming children. Here are a few ways that moms can reduce their stress levels fast. Give them a try. Let’s dig in…
Remember that commercial for Calgon bath soap? Calgon would seem to whisk women everywhere off to exotic locales. Too bad that that can’t actually happen—or can it? Turn on some pleasant music. Climb into a nice hot tub. Just close your eyes and let the world go on for a bit!
Do you own an mp3 player? If not, get one. You can load music, videos, and pictures on them. Mine is full of praise and worship songs…good, solid Bible teachings…and even love songs (we have all of them on our iPods–FUN!). Stressed? Put on your headset, turn on your favorite songs, and destress! Read more

The big question that pretty much 100% of us will ask (or have asked) at one time of our lives is the biggie, ” Why do bad things happen to those who are good?” Ever asked that one? This is a valid question. So, why does a good God allow bad things to happen? Read more
Stressed? Are You Using Your Support? It is Right There!!
October 12, 2008
Moms are a crucial. Moms are vital. Moms are completely essential.
We are a central part of the family. We always joke that if mom gets ill, the family would crumble. That may not be far from the truth. If we go down, the family goes down with us. None of us wants that.
So, my dear mommy pals, who do you turn to in times of stress to keep from crumbling? You need SUPPORT!
A support system is important for busy moms. It’s easy to get weighed down by doctor’s appointments, work deadlines, family obligations, and housework. Hanging across the bed crying your eyes out is usually a sign to activate your stress support system. Read more
