Your “Is Your Year on Track” posts are so inspiring to me. As usual! I just wanted to drop a line to thank you for taking the time to write them up. I’d love to comment , but I don’t have a WordPress log-in, so thought I’d send an email instead!
I feel like I’ve lost myself, in the past year. I’m working on things I don’t really want to work on, but that are bringing in money – which is helpful and I’m thankful for that – but meanwhile, what I want to do, and what I really think I’m supposed to do – what is important to me – isn’t getting done. It’s shoved to the back burner for what seems important. This makes for a frustrated person!
I really need to set time aside, I think, to think and prioritize and maybe even create a vision board as you suggested in a post. I sure wish Alabama was a bit shorter so I could have you over for tea to get your advice!
Love ya, girl. Thanks for being you!
Lori
Thanks sooo much for your email. Talk about a big SHOT of encouragement! I sure do wish that Alabama was “shorter,” it is way too long from North Alabama to South Alabama! I would LOVE girl-time with you! We will just ask God to shorten than distance soon so we can have some tea-time in person! 🙂
Oh! Before I answer this, I did want for you to know that I just changed the settings so you can comment on the blog easier. It was requiring that everyone be registered with my site. Now, you can just leave your name and email and a message. 🙂 Woohooo! DO come by my site and “chat” with me! I would LOVE it!
I sooo love your feedback. Thanks!
It is sooo easy to get busy doing all of the things that come along our path. Like you said, they are very important. They NEED to be done. The hard part is when you are swamped with all of those demands and just don’t have time to do the things that are most important to you.
For me, there is not an option for getting up earlier or staying up later or working on another day of the week. I am ALREADY doing those things. 🙂 I am sure you are too. It HAS to be something else to help me fit things in.
I don’t think that I mentioned this in the series, but for me there are two things that are really helping me to make sure that I am fitting those things in while I am doing all of the other things on my schedule:
1. Taking my Sabbath. My Sabbath is a bit different now than ever in my life. At minimum, I take Saturday through Sunday afternoon off–usually Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. I REALLY love taking off all day Friday too with my family or for some ME-TIME if they are all too busy. Of course, that does not always happen. 🙂 Taking that Sabbath time to be refreshed, to renew, to plan, and to getaway with God just infuses energy into me. I know that the things of God do not make sense in the natural mind–tithing, sabbath, resting–but, I am finding that they are key to getting the most done (well, the MOST important done!). If I dare skip the Sabbath, everything just gets haywire! It doesn’t make sense other than the fact that God has designed us to get rest and renewal through our Sabbath each week. When I do, I get TONS MORE done that week. This week is a good example, I feel that it has been one of my most productive all year. And, I look back to last weekend, I took off the time to spend with God and my family. It works!
2. Do it FIRST! I find that the things that really mean the most to me just do not get done unless I do them first. I really find a battle for the things that are MOST productive. I want time with God. I want a passionate, forever, happier-and-happier-ever-after marriage. I want to stay close to my children. I want to get fit and healthy. I want time to run. I want deep friendships with other godly women. I want to write and teach. If all of those things that I really want are not put in my schedule FIRST, they do not happen. And, if there is an area that I am battling day-after-day-after-day to make it happen, I have to put THAT thing before everything until it gets back on track. Otherwise, it won’t fit into my life. I want for my lifestyle to include all that really matters. This is the only way that it will. 🙂
Lori, I am so glad that you wrote this note. I love connecting with you. You inspire me!
Also, you just convinced me that I need to work on am eBook that has been on my heart. It is on Creating Your Own Vision Board. I soooo wanted to get it done by the New Year this year, but it just didn’t happen. I shoved my little “Post-It note” to the end of this year. Your note showed me that I really need to just DO IT NOW! You are planning to take time now and I KNOW that I said it can be done at any time of the year. I will work hard to finish up that little eBook. Soooo, you inspired me!
Until then, YES! Take that time, sweet friend, to getaway and plan. I love that God lets us have new beginnings at ANY TIME and ANY DAY. That has been a lesson for me this year–I can begin with the next choice, the next bite, the next moment, the next word. I love that! I pray that you can snag some time to getaway and plan. I am praying that THIS YEAR is your very best ever. I am sooo excited about all that you have going on. I pray that every bit of it is blessed by the hand of God. Keep me posted all throughout the year!
Well, dearie, THANKS for tuning into my blog. It is SUCH an honor! You are one of my favorite writers. I love that we can stay connected even though we live on opposite ends of Alabama. Again, I do pray that we can have tea IN PERSON soon!
Big hugs!
Love ya!
Cindy
