This week, I am sharing some secrets to help you keep your year on track. It is now March. Is this year shaping up to be what you want? Or, is it already off track? Well, this week, we will be digging into some of my secrets to help keep your year on track.
If you missed yesterday’s post, why not go back and dig into it first and then come back here. Here is where you will find that post:

Today, I want to share another secret to help keep your year on track. Ready?
I don’t know about you, but I have been finding some great pictures for my home that have a focus of one word. I LOVE THEM! Just sitting here, I can see these:
BELIEVE
DREAM
IMAGINE
FAITH
HOPE
LOVE
FOCUS
GRACE
DEDICATION
LAUGH
and….
LIVE!
I guess that I didn’t really notice how much I love seeing those reminders, but those reminders help me to keep on track.
Funny thing, I have been noticing this year that all through Scripture, God gives His people reminders that help them to stay the course. Think about Abraham’s life, in every story about Abraham, God gave him something that would remind him of all that was promised to him. I love it!
God moved on my heart to put the reminder to “LIVE” right where I work each day. Funny that He would do that, huh? Well, I think it is because I have no problem remembering to get up and get busy with my to-do’s (Of course, that is another point, huh?). I have no problem moving through my daily routines. But, I have found myself going through the motions so many times and forgetting to LIVE.
Sure, I exist.
Sure, I get a lot of great things done.
Sure, I enjoy my family and friends.
BUT!
I really do have a tendency to just get things done, to exist, to survive another day. UGH! Relate?
This year, I want something MORE! I want to pursue those impossible dreams. I want to reach for the things that I have been putting off until LATER. Later is NOW! This is the only day that I am promised, well this is the only MOMENT I am promised. I want to live it well. I want to grasp on to all that Christ died to give me.
That means that I am going to have to do a few things different:
1. Get a vision for what I REALLY want! I mean really slow down to SEE IT! TO FEEL IT! It has to be CLEAR! If I can’t see it, I can’t live it! It has been said that if we don’t have a vision, a clear vision, we will always return to default. I don’t like default! Default is sitting still. Default is stuck. Default settles for less than the best. Default takes me places that I don’t want to go. I want to LIVE. I want to live the life that Christ died to give me! I want to grasp onto ALL that He has reserved for me. Relate? We can’t have it without first getting a vision for what we really want. Take the time to just sit before His presence. Let Him give you HIS VISION. Let Him make it clear to you. Get that vision!
2. Keep the vision before me! Yep! It is NOT enough to just GET THE VISION. I have done that quite a few times. The difference is what you do once you get that vision. Do we just stuff it away until later or until a more convenient time OR do we keep that vision before us as we run the race? I love Habakkuk 2:2-3:
THE MESSAGE:
And then God answered: “Write this.
Write what you see.
Write it out in big block letters
so that it can be read on the run.
This vision-message is a witness
pointing to what’s coming.
It aches for the coming—it can hardly wait!
And it doesn’t lie.
If it seems slow in coming, wait.
It’s on its way. It will come right on time.”
This year, I took time in the fall to write out my vision in a notebook. In fact, I detailed this and even gave some printable pages in my set Gearing Up to Reach for Your Dreams. It was sooo good for me! I didn’t JUST make a list of resolutions or to-do’s. I wrote out the vision I had for what I wanted. I wrote it out so clear that I can feel it and see it as I read back over it. It was sOOoooo good for me! But, that is not where I stopped. I wanted to reach for bigger things than ever this year. So, I also made Vision Boards that I have in my family room so I can see them all throughout the day.
Some days those Vision Boards just NAG at me. I am not ALL THE WAY where I want to be. God has so much to teach me this year. I would still prefer to vege out with chocolate and old movies instead of hit the gym. I still get whiny and want to indulge my pity-party. BUT! Those boards are there reminding me of what I want. Each word on that board reminds me of what I really want! Every verse exhorts me to press on toward the mark and grasp on to all that Christ died to give me.
If I really want to LIVE IT, I have got to keep that vision right before me. Otherwise, I get off track and end up losing time that I will never get back.
What about you? Have you got a vision? Have you written it down? Have you got it right before you as you run the race?
It helps sooo much to keep the vision of what I really want RIGHT BEFORE YOU. I know that it seems like it will never come to pass, but sweet friend, IT WILL! It may seem slow in coming, but step-by-step, choice-by-choice, you will get there! It is on its way! Just get that dream out of your head and onto paper! Write it down! Write it ALL down! Keep it before you. It will come right on time!
3. Make it a lifestyle! This is key! I have no idea what you want for this year. I have no idea what your dreams are. However, they are as simple as LIVING IT! I was reading this past week and I ran across something that was very interesting. In, 100 Ways to Motivate Yourself by Steve Chandler, Steve was writing about an interview he had years ago with Arnold Schwarzenneggar. Actually his interview was right after Schwarzenneggar had retired from bodybuilding. Steve asked Schwarzenneggar what he wanted to do next. He calmly told him, “I’m going to be the number-one box-office star in all of Hollywood.” Now, you can imagine how skeptical Steve was. Imagine this huge, bulked up guy who could barely speak English–not exactly the guy you would expect to be a “box-office” success. 🙂 As Steve asked him just how he planned to become a top-star in Hollywood, he shared a life-changing quote, “it’s the same process I used in bodybuilding…What you do is create a vision of who you want to be, and then live into that picture as if it were already true.” Is that GOOD or what? I have no idea if Schwarzenneggar is a Christian or not, however what he said is the perfect definition of walking by faith! We are called to walk by faith into the vision that God has given us. That means that we do not look around at our current circumstances or our current position and LIVE THAT OUT. Instead, just like Hebrews 12: 1-2, we will….
AMPLIFIED BIBLE:
“1THEREFORE THEN, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the Truth], let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us,
2Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Anybody else HOOTING? 🙂
If we want to LIVE IT, we have got to see it, keep our eyes on it, and live it TODAY!
So, my dear friend, is your year on track? Are you moving forward? Are you grasping on to ALL that Christ has died to give you?
Today is the day to get moving forward.
Today is the day to get back on track.
Let’s do it together!
let’s commit to make this moment, this hour, this day, this week, this month, THIS YEAR really count.
Come back to join me for the next post where I will talk about BALANCE. 🙂 Until then, why not share your vision here? Write it down. Let’s move out together. Just leave me your comment or just join the discussion. I am so glad you are here. You are among friends! Just jump in and chat with me!
Cindy, once again you have been the source of encouragement!!! My hubby and I have had a vision to help others for a long time but due to our ds we haven’t been able to financially. A week ago this past Sunday that all changed as far as our vision. We have been trying to help a family dear to us move to our area but it seemed all the doors were closed. We kept running into our financial troubles with medical bills that have been piling up and causing lots of discouragement. That Sunday afternoon I was on the phone with my dear friend when my dh walked in and said we are buying a place for them if they will accept it. I looked at him as if he was stupid. I knew our credit stunk due to the bills and their was NOOOOO way, but I forgot one key element, GOD. To make a long story short, HE placed a beautiful place of 4 1/2 acres with a trailer (family lives in a 2 bedroom home) with 4 bedrooms that is in an area that the places for 1 acre and a house is selling for $100,000 for only $36,000. We met with the realitor on Monday night made an offer, the owner counter offered and we accepted. Tuesday we got the banks approval with NO problems, even enough to help them fix the place up because it is a fixer-upper. When my dh called to finish getting everything transfered on the payment we were told an amazing thing that all closing cost would be covered by the bank, so more money was saved, the closing was yesterday and we were given back over $200 of the cost of the transfer. In the end we only paid $33,000 for the place in less than a week, which usually takes at least 30 days for a closing. We had asked God if this was HIS plan to open and shut doors, wow did HE ever. Now our vision is seeing this family move and draw closer together as a family and become united together. How are we going to pay the bills? I have no idea but we took the step of FAITH that we felt God wanted us to take and now we are waiting on HIM to work a miracle with our bills.
Cindy, this has been a big step for our family with extra stresses in our life but you have been teaching us that we should rely on the Lord and do what HE shows us to do. I don’t know if this story will help anyone else but if it can help others realize that God does open and shut doors on even our financial problems that is what I want. To God Be the Glory! No it doesn’t mean that the stresses we have with our bills already or the physical stresses will disappear and I don’t have any idea what is in store, BUT I do know if we are obedient to HIS promptings HE will see us through!
Thanks again, Cindy, for opening up your heart and minding HIM and showing us what HE is teaching you.

Orilla, WOW!
Thanks for sharing this! I just love, love, love your heart. It must be precious for our Heavenly Father to see your sweet heart.
Orilla, I believe that this is a year that God wants for us to be RADICAL. When we are, then I believe we are really LIVING.
I love seeing this story and how God is working it out. And, yes, He will definitely provide! He has such a tender heart for children. I see that tender heart visually through YOU! I just think this shows us that God wants for us to step out there and do what really matters without counting all of the costs. HE has those details taken care of. Just think about Moses and the Israelites when they hit that big sea on one side and the Pharoah on the other–God didn’t JUST show up, He showed OUT! He has already moved for you, now get ready for the SHOW OF A LIFETIME! 🙂
I am jazzed!
