Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend [to show rage or worthy purpose]. Proverbs 27:17 (AMP)
Last night, I had the treat of my life! My sweet friend, Trina and I met for some girl-time shopping. Little did I know, she had talked with her friend Emily, who works with Nordstrom, about helping to give me a “makeover.”
It was bliss!
They set up a room for me. Then, they brought in amazing outfits (yep–they put them together FOR ME!), shoes, lingerie, and even water! 🙂
I was pampered to the max. It was simply incredible!
The amazing thing was having true friends who see something in you and want to bring it out. Our clothes either compliment or contradict the real us. Our clothes either reveal the real person or they cover and hide all that we really are inside.
It has been a long, long, ok…LONG time since I shopped for clothes with girlfriends. Decades! Â Can we say HIGH SCHOOL????
I have really been ripping myself off. I totally forgot how they will tell it like it really is. They will say when something really doesn’t work. they GET when you may look great in something but it bothers you because of that TROUBLESPOT (STOMACH!). They stretch you when your “image” of what you look like is not really reality. Boy, we need that! Best of all, I loved the delight that my friends had when I was able to fit in those “skinny jeans” that were TWO SIZES SMALLER!! Priceless!
As I am working this year choice-by-choice toward my change, I suspect that there will be regular girl-dates to shop. There is nothing like the blessing that comes when “iron-sharpens-iron” or aka–girlfriends dress girlfriends! 🙂
You use steel to sharpen steel, and one friend sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17 (THE MESSAGE)
