Wondering what Mommy Homework is??? Each week you will have an “assignment” here to share in our comments here on this site. You will love this-both sharing AND enjoying answers by others. Some of them, I compile into an ebook (contributors can resell as a product of their own–be sure to submit your email and full name when you register so I can credit you appropriately!).
The result is AWESOME!
We get to know each other…we are encouraged in our journey…and we glean super ideas from other great moms!
Ready for this week’s MH? This is going to be a good one!
This week, let’s talk about taking care of YOU! Yep! What are you doing to take care of yourself?
You have to be ALL THERE ALL OF THE TIME! You cannot neglect yourself or everyone will pay the price. If there is one area that we NEED help from one another, this is it!
I could ask what you do to take care of your husband….or children….or church….or parents….or friends….or even strangers on the street and I suspect that the list would be incredibly long and very easy to write. There is a battle on for this one! Why? Well, our enemy knows how easy it is to defeat someone if they are isolated and weary before he gets ‘hand-to-hand’ with them. Today, let’s get a strategy together so we can put ME-TIME on the calendar each and every day!
So…
What are YOU doing to take good care of yourself each day?
This will be super! Have fun! DIG IN!
Love ya!
Cindy

Deadline–Friday at midnight CST.
I get up earlier than the kids (most days 😉 ) harder now that I am pregnant with number 3. I stay up after the kids go to sleep and read, knit, crochet, listen to podcasts, etc this helps relax me and gets me ready for sleep. Also dh makes sure that I get time to myself every week he may take the kids somewhere (sometimes fishing, sometimes just outside to play) but during that time they are not allowed to bug mommy for anything UNLESS it involves blood or broken bones! Daddy doesn’t deal well with those kind of things in our kids! Also for me baking is relaxing and I love to bake so when I am really stressed out you will find in the kitchen baking cookies, pies, or kneading bread.

Cindy, this is a tought one! I am not good at this. Since you’ve done an exellent job of bringing the importance of taking care of yourself daily to our attention (loved your article about the Me Time Myth), I’ve been struggling with just identifying what it is I need to do for myself.
For me, homeschooling in a little bitty town tin the middle of no where that I married into and still don’t really fit into (since I do homeschool), connecting with other women is next to nil. My prayer is for good Christian friendships – I need other women. I need to be able to pick up the phone and talk to someone or actually get together face to face. To have someone call and not try to sell me something would be a wonderful! Sounds pretty pathetic, huh?
Someday’s when I just really need to see people, I give myself permission to “run errands” in my hometown (15 minutes away). It does my heart so much good to hear someone say, “Hey, Kim!” :).
Hi,
I am new this site, and homeschooling. I actually have not been doing very much to take care of me. Things have been very hectic and difficult. I brought my children home from Public School and we are in the transition. I was attracted to this site because of wanting to incorporate CM methods into our work and all the other features. Hopefully, I will start to get a handle on this. Thanks.

In the morning I have my coffee and my quiet time! Also for maybe an hour or less each day I have some time to myself and I need to walk every day but sometimes I rest. Last week I walked while listening to homeschool encouragement tapes (by Cindy!). I must admit though I neglect myself a great deal. I try to keep in mind how my family needs me and needs me to be healthy in all aspects. I remember when the children were very small and I could just get a shower, what a blessing! So I still really enjoy my showertime and the lock on the door, even though I am answering questions sometimes. We all need time to relax ourselves, that is not being selfish that is surviving! A while back I had some issues with high blood pressure and my dr. told me to take at least an hour each day to be as stress free and relaxed as possible.
Thanks
Tina K
I am ging to try to exercise and get back to juicing so I feel healthier.

Now that i think about it i don’t think i do anything for me other than the fact i cook everything from scratch and we grow most of our food, including chickens and goats for milk and cheese . Oh i know i have tea. I love tea.
