Sheri writes, “This came to me labeled as Gorp-now that is the ugliest name I ever heard for a divine snack like this…hence the name change. This is a sure fire addiction-hide it from the kids, Harold and yourself…cuz it has a way of disappearing quickly…it is worse than those Lays Potato Chips (“Betcha can’t eat just one”)” ~From Sheri Hageman
2 packages of white chocolate melts (2#s total, look for the ones that have a microwavable tray included-works better)
Follow the directions for melting-BUT do not do this until you have your cereal mix ready
Mix:
10-12 oz of mini pretzels
5 cups of Cheerios
5 cups of Rice Chex (or corn chex)
2 cups salted peanuts
1 pound of M&Ms
Mix in a big bowl…to get better chocolate coverage…I then split the mix in half, saving one part for one package of choc. and the other for the 2nd choc. package. I found it was easier to mix and the chocolate spreads more evenly when doing so.
Melt your choc. as directed (you can usually find them in the baking isle by the choc. chips and such), as soon as it is melted, pour over cereal and mix to coat. Lay onto wax paper to dry. Repeat with other half. Let dry until hard, break into bite sized pieces and store in air tight containers. Makes a great gift.
